About

I was lucky to grow up in a family of craftspeople who taught me how to turn wood. Wood turning is the process of shaping timber whilst it spins on a lathe, using a chisel or gouge to shape it.

Making has always been a big part of who I am, so those simple early projects gradually became more complex and involved, which led me to pursue a career in bespoke cabinetry. At the age of 18 I was lucky enough to be offered an apprenticeship at the Edward Barnsley workshop in Hampshire. The workshop has a rich heritage, rooted in the English arts and crafts movement of the 19th century. I learnt a lot during my two years there, especially the attention to detail that is required to make truly high end pieces that last. The ethos of the Arts and Crafts movement also resonated with me. Putting the focus onto making things by hand, with thought of the end user and an appreciation of the materials and techniques that have been used on any given project.

My next step was to move to the North West to become a cabinet maker at Silverlining furniture. Here I was able to work on high end furniture, for household names all over the world. I expanded my knowledge of the furniture industry and furniture making.

In August 2025, having spent 10 years in woodworking, I decided it was time to establish my own workshop. I decided to put my focus into turning, which I have always found to be a very rewarding part of being a woodworker. This has allowed me to make my own range of products, as well as bespoke pieces for clients.
